Several farmers in Telangana protested on Saturday, claiming that the Congress government has failed to deliver on Crop Loan Waiver promises. Angry farmers even staged a mock funeral procession for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

The farmers carried an effigy of the Chief Minister through the streets of a village in Thalamadugu Mandal to symbolise the funeral. The agitated protesters pelted the effigy with slippers while shouting, "CM down, down." The protest devolved into a stampede, with police attempting to disperse the crowd.

A large group of farmers held a rally demanding immediate action on the matter, claiming that the government's inaction had left them in debt. The farmers pointed out that repaying their debts has become an enormous burden.

The Telangana government reportedly completed the third and final phase of the crop loan waiver, costing Rs 5,644.24 crore. Meanwhile, the state government has reportedly allocated Rs 17,000 crore to the Crop Loan Waiver Scheme. Meanwhile, former Telangana Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao announced on Saturday that the party would begin collecting data for the Crop Loan Waiver Scheme from all constituencies in the state. KTR also claimed that the BRS will ensure every farmer receives a loan waiver by putting pressure on the ruling Congress government.
